Superintendent pursues school security officer deal with city

Day-to-day

What happened

The superintendent presented on security personnel on Sept. 14, 2026. The city manager wants a 5-10 year contract, and the superintendent will ask local governments for support before bringing a proposal. Earlier the board approved a $74,058 security camera system and staff threat assessment training.

Why it matters to families

A long-term security officer contract would be a multi-year cost for a district already deficit spending.
