District news
Roanoke and Aquebogue elementary schools get new principals for 2026-27
What happened
On April 21 the district announced that the Roanoke Avenue principal was retiring and Jessica Farmer, an assistant principal at Pulaski Street, would become principal. On June 3 the board appointed Brian Miltonberg, Aquebogue's principal, as director of personnel and announced Jacqueline Kenny as Aquebogue's principal, plus new assistant principals at the middle school and at elementary schools. On September 16 the board also approved a mentor for the Pulaski Street principal through November 30.
Why it matters to families
The principal sets the day-to-day tone of a school. Roanoke is the school that just left state comprehensive-support status, and Pulaski Street also has a leadership change.
The evidence
The April 21 announcement and June 3 appointments are in the meeting recordings; the June 17 retiree list includes the Roanoke principal. The September 16 board resolution approving a mentor for the Pulaski Street principal does not say why. Who now leads Pulaski Street was not stated in the records reviewed.
