San Diego Unified adopts employee priority for planned affordable housing

What happened

The board approved a resolution prioritizing district employees for housing in San Diego Unified’s affordable workforce housing initiative. The update covered six additional property sites; in a survey of more than 1,300 staff, 68% said housing costs hurt their long-term ability to remain employed and 61% had considered leaving the district because of those costs.
