What happened

The board adopted Policy JICJ. Students may use phones and other devices only when a teacher allows it for learning, and must keep them off or silent at other times. Cameras are banned in bathrooms and locker rooms. A taken phone is returned only after a parent meeting.

Why it matters to families

This changes what students can do with their phones during the school day. If a phone is taken away, a parent has to come to school to get it back.

The evidence

October 27, 2025 regular meeting minutes record second-reading adoption of the JC through JLCD-R student policies in the CASB overhaul. The packet lists JICJ Student Use of Cell Phones and Other Personal Technology Devices as a new policy and includes its text.
