Longtime principal retires; new principal starts July 1

Admin hiring

What happened

At the March 2026 board meeting, Principal Greg Thompson was honored as he retires after 40 years in education. A search committee had interviewed four of five finalists. In June the board met the new principal, Mr. Smith, who came from Crescent High School and was to start July 1, 2026.

Why it matters to families

The principal leads the school day for every student. The school's report card scores had been 98 for two years before falling to 93, so the new principal steps in while the school works to raise them.

The evidence

June 2026 recording introduces Mr. Smith, still under contract at Crescent High School, whose "first official day" is July 1, and discusses the "transition from Mr. Thompson" to Mr. Smith. The March 2026 recording shows Greg Thompson honored "upon retirement after 40 years" and a principal search update. Based on auto-generated captions of the official recordings.
