What happened

Construction approved in the November 2024 capital referendum started at Washburn Middle/High School in June 2026, right after graduation. The superintendent said crews will be on site for 16 to 18 months. The work includes a new entrance and main office where two special education classrooms are now.

Why it matters to families

Students and staff at the middle/high school will work around construction through much of the 2026-27 school year.

The evidence

The February 12, 2026 minutes say "construction will begin right after graduation. 16-18 months of construction time." The May 14 minutes say construction begins June 8, and the July 9 minutes say "Construction is fully underway." The June 11 recording (automatic captions) describes a new entrance and office where "two special education classrooms" are now.
