District projects a $600,000 deficit next year

Financial

What happened

At the June 11, 2026 meeting the superintendent said the district faces a deficit of about $600,000 next year and up to $1.5 million over four years. She said the district had already changed its health insurance plan and made difficult staffing decisions. A community finance focus group, created in February, helped shape the referendum plan.

Why it matters to families

The size of the gap explains why the board asked voters for more operating money.

The evidence

In the June 11, 2026 meeting recording, the superintendent says: "we're looking at a deficit of $600,000 for next year and up to 1.5 million in the next 4 years," and that the district "changed our health insurance plan" and "had to make some difficult staffing decisions." This is from YouTube's automatic captions; the June minutes were not posted.
