Digital citizenship may become a ninth-grade requirement
What happened
On September 22, 2026 the board made digital citizenship this year's curriculum review subject. The Education Committee floated making the half-credit high school class a graduation requirement, maybe paired with health as a ninth-grade course.
Why it matters to families
If adopted, every high school student would have to take a class on safe and responsible technology use. Any graduation change still has to go through the Policy Committee.
The evidence
The September 22, 2026 minutes record unanimous approval of item 10.7 (curriculum review selection: digital citizenship) and describe the early-stage idea of a graduation requirement.
