How Somers funds and governs its schools
A seven-member elected board sets policy and brings the annual school budget to voters. The 2026–27 budget totals $116,007,313, and voters approved it on May 19, 2026. The board set a $93,561,010 tax levy in August.
Budget and local revenue
Voters approved the 2026–27 budget by 937–410; the board later set the school tax levy at $93,561,010.
Public oversight
The board holds regular and workshop meetings, with advisory audit, finance and policy committees. Two nonvoting student representatives share student perspectives.
Financial reporting
The 2024–25 district financial statements received an unmodified audit opinion. A separate student activity funds audit was qualified because auditors could not verify all cash receipts before staff recorded them.
Spending detail
The approved budget is districtwide; a full category-by-category breakdown is not included in these reviewed records.
School board and leadership
Superintendent Dr. Adam Bronstein leads the district. The seven board members are Amanda Kandel, Chadwick Olsen, Patrick Varbero, Daryl Mundis, Margaret DiLorenzo, Rosalind Gallino and Tessa O’Connell. Contact the board at [email protected].
A qualified audit opinion on student activity receipts does not establish that money was lost or misused.
