District news

State move would end Regents exams as a graduation requirement

Curriculum

What happened

The district said the state Board of Regents voted in September 2026 to move NY Inspires forward. It would stop requiring Regents exams to graduate and create one diploma, with the advanced designation becoming a seal. The district says it takes effect for the class of 2028.

Why it matters to families

Today's 10th graders would graduate under new rules. The district says nothing is official yet and it is waiting for state guidance.

The evidence

On Sept. 16, 2026 an assistant superintendent described a Parent Square message and the Regents meeting. A family night on Oct. 20 will share more.
