Cross-border football co-op with Milk River, Alberta continues
What happened
Sunburst now plays six-man football together with students from Milk River, Alberta, in Canada. On October 13, 2026 the board voted to continue the co-op for the next two-year cycle.
Why it matters to families
Sunburst alone would have about seven high school football players. With the co-op it has 12 (five Canadian), and the junior high team has 10 (four Canadian). Because the combined school size is over 65 students, the state association (MHSA) must review and approve the co-op.
The evidence
August 18, 2026 recording: '12 high school football players. Seven Sunburst kids and five Canadian kids', junior high 'four Canadians and six Sunburst kids'. June 16 recording: Milk River paid half of the co-op fee. October 13 recording: MHSA co-op review because combined enrollment is above 65; motion to continue the football cooperative approved. Taken from auto-captions.
