All students get ID badges tied to attendance, bus and lunch

Day-to-day

What happened

The district announced a student ID badge program for 2026-27. Students wear a badge for classroom attendance, bus and after-school attendance, library and food service. Younger students get color-coded badges (red for K-2, white for grades 3-5). Food service, library and medical ID started right away; bus and classroom readers are being installed this fall.

Why it matters to families

It changes how attendance and bus riding are tracked every day, and the badges also help locate students in an emergency.

The evidence

The August 2026 superintendent's report (presented Aug. 24, 2026) describes the badges, who wears which color and the rollout steps. The sources do not describe what student data the system stores.
