What happened

On June 26, the State Board of Education adopted English and Spanish literary-work lists for elementary, middle, and high school. After reconsideration, members amended implementation dates for the K–5 English and Spanish lists. The minutes describe phased implementation; they do not mean every grade changes at once.

Why it matters to families

These lists change required instructional content statewide. Families and educators may want to follow the later phase-in dates and the final filed rules before planning for a particular grade.

The evidence

The official minutes record final adoption of the new 19 TAC Chapters 110 and 128 lists, followed by reconsideration and a 9–4 vote on further K–5 implementation-date amendments. The alert reports the board action and does not treat the unreviewed recording as evidence.
