Texas SBOE adopts revised social-studies standards for several grades and courses

What happened
On June 26, the State Board of Education adopted revised social-studies standards for elementary grades, grades 6–8, Foundations of Economics, and several other high-school courses. The board postponed World History, U.S. History, U.S. Government, and World Geography, and a motion covering other social-studies courses failed. The minutes say the two-thirds vote for an early effective date was not reached for most standards.
Why it matters to families
Academic standards guide statewide instruction and later learning materials. The meeting record documents a substantial standards update while also identifying courses that remain unresolved; it does not establish an early start date for most of the adopted standards.
The evidence
The official June 26 minutes record adoption votes and explicitly distinguish the adopted sections from the failed motion and postponed courses. The minutes state that the two-thirds finding for an effective date 20 days after filing was not obtained for most standards.
