District news
2026-27 budget balanced with unpaid furlough days and a $1.6 million reserve draw

What happened
On June 17, 2026 the board adopted the 2026-27 budget 5-2. The finance chief said revenue is falling because fewer students are enrolled and state money was about flat (up $400,000). To balance it, the district cut about $1 million in administrator jobs and drew about $1.6 million from reserves. Teachers and administrative staff get four unpaid furlough days, and classified staff get two.
Why it matters to families
Furlough days cut staff pay and lower the days they work. Falling enrollment is pushing the district toward tighter budgets. He said bringing the furlough days back would cost about $2.5 million a year, and health insurance is expected to rise about 10%.
