District news

Demographers say Waller ISD could reach about 40,000 students in 10 years

Facilities

What happened

On Sept. 10, 2026, the district's demographers projected enrollment of roughly 40,000 students in 10 years (between about 24,000 and 47,000), up from about 11,000 today. They said the district may need up to 11 more elementary schools, three more junior highs beyond Johnson Junior High (2029), and two more high schools beyond Warren Ranch.

Why it matters to families

Growth this fast drives new schools, boundary changes, new bond elections and staffing. Staff have said another bond election may come in the next couple of years.
