Board weighs tax cuts, bond payoff and $30M+ Midway Elementary rebuild in 10-year plan

Facilities

What happened

At an October 29, 2026 study session, staff projected about $70 million in the capital fund, with about $20 million still owed on Deer Creek High. Options included paying off the 2016 bonds, which would cut the district tax rate about 3.1%. Paying off the Deer Creek bonds when they become callable in 2032 would save about $92.7 million in interest. Staff also priced aging buildings: about $3 million for West Campus seismic and HVAC work and $30-35 million to rebuild Midway Elementary. No votes were taken.

Why it matters to families

These choices will shape property taxes and which schools are repaired or rebuilt over the next decade. Staff will now draft 10-year plan options.
