District Adopts Amplify CKLA as New K-5 ELA Curriculum
What happened
Following a multi-year pilot and review process, a 16-person committee decided to adopt the Amplify CKLA (Core Knowledge Language Arts) curriculum for K-5 English Language Arts, replacing prior materials, with teacher training beginning this summer and full rollout planned for fall 2026.
Why it matters to families
This is a major instructional-materials change affecting all K-5 students district-wide, including equity considerations for English Learners, students with IEPs, and Black/Latino students identified as underperforming under the prior curriculum.
The evidence
"A team of 16 people reached the decision to adopt Amplify CKLA (Core Knowledge Language Arts) curriculum during which three categories were reviewed: Belonging, Consistency, and Coherence."
