District is writing AI rules but has no student AI policy yet

Day-to-day

What happened

At the October 13, 2026 board meeting, staff said Webster has an AI toolkit and staff guidelines, finished an hour-long AI training in all 11 buildings, and is looking at draft regulations. The only AI rule found for students is that unapproved AI use counts as cheating in the Code of Conduct.

Why it matters to families

Students and teachers use AI tools now, and families do not yet have one clear written rule for when students may use them.

The evidence

Staff presentation on the October 13, 2026 recording (auto-generated captions). The collected Code of Conduct lists unauthorized AI use under academic misconduct. The policy manual is in BoardDocs, which could not be collected, so a policy there may exist.
