High School Innovation Wing is ahead of schedule; opening hoped for spring 2027
What happened
Builders told the board on September 14, 2026 that the new Innovation Wing at White Plains High School is ahead of schedule and the building is weather-tight. Finishes start soon. Pipe work will close lanes on North Street for several weeks.
Why it matters to families
The addition is the district's largest building project. Voters approved a $60 million bond for the district's capital plan in 2022. Traffic changes near the high school may affect families.
The evidence
The September 2026 capital projects presentation says progress is 'ahead of anticipated schedule', the bridge to the old building is nearly done and a water and fire line start is pending after permit issues were solved. On July 1 the district said it hoped to open the building next spring.
