Board approves a new bus garage and district office building

What happened
The district is building an all-in-one bus garage, maintenance shed, technology space and administrative office next to the Event Center parking lot, paid for with bond premiums that can only be used for capital projects. In January the options ran from $1.0 million (buy and renovate a property) to $3.46 million; Big Johnson Construction bid $1,799,250. On June 3, 2026 the board voted 5-0 to approve the project with a second story added to the district office. Permits were filed by October and the building has been ordered.
Why it matters to families
It is the district's largest current project and changes where buses, repairs and the district office are housed. The second story adds cost; the final price is not stated in the record.
The evidence
June 3 minutes (in the August 5 packet) record the 5-0 vote. January 7 agenda lists the bids and the bond premium funding. October 7 and November 4 agendas report permits submitted and the building ordered.
