What happened

Windsor Unified is proposing new rules requiring students with a fever of 100.4°F or higher, recent vomiting, or diarrhea to stay home. The draft allows return only after 24 hours fever-free without fever-reducing medicine, or 24 hours without vomiting or diarrhea.

Why it matters to families

The proposed districtwide standards would give families specific stay-home and return-to-school rules for common illness symptoms. The Oct. 15 agenda lists the revisions for consideration; it does not establish that the board adopted them.

The evidence

The Oct. 15, 2026 agenda lists proposed revisions to AR 5112.2, Exclusions From Attendance, for board approval. The attached redline adds illness-exclusion criteria, including a 100.4°F fever threshold, 24-hour return periods for fever, vomiting and diarrhea, and an exception for symptoms attributable to documented chronic or non-infectious conditions.
