Phone policy now covers smart glasses
What happened
In March 2026 the board revised its student mobile device policy (BP 5131.8) to restrict smart glasses such as Meta glasses unless there is a need, using the same approval process as other devices. Board members asked whether to cover all internet-connected wearables, such as watches.
Why it matters to families
Students cannot wear camera-equipped glasses at school without approval.
