20 electric school buses, mostly paid by grants

Financial

What happened

In June 2026 the board approved buying 20 electric school buses for about $8.8 million. Staff expect about $8.2 million from grants (the state ZESBI program, with grant agreements of $9.1 million and $466,000 approved in April), leaving a district cost of about $577,000. Charging infrastructure is being designed by NV5.

Why it matters to families

This changes the district's bus fleet and depends on grant money arriving as planned.
