District adopts rules for how students use artificial intelligence
What happened
On December 11, 2025 the board approved the AUHSD Student Artificial Intelligence Framework. It sets out seven areas - AI literacy, competency, ethics, data privacy and security, workforce readiness and community - and sits alongside the district's existing AI board resolution and acceptable use policy. Staff said it also answers an Orange County Grand Jury report issued in June 2024.
Why it matters to families
The framework decides what counts as acceptable AI use in schoolwork and what protections apply to student data inside AI tools, which affects every student who uses a district device.
