What happened

Antioch Unified's second-interim projection includes $31.5 million in 2026-27 budget adjustments and $29 million in 2027-28 after the county downgraded the district's first-interim certification to qualified.

Why it matters to families

Adjustments of this size put staffing, programs, services, and future compensation decisions under significant pressure while the district works to maintain its minimum reserve.

The evidence

The official second-interim presentation shows the two adjustment amounts in its unrestricted multi-year projection and labels the first-interim status as downgraded and qualified.
