Antioch revises fiscal plan after $7.99 million in expected savings fell short

What happened
The board approved a revised fiscal-recovery plan after the district found that $7.99 million in current-year budget savings had not been achieved. The district said it must remove those assumed savings from this year’s budget; additional cuts are still under review.
Why it matters to families
The updated shortfall increases the budget gap the district must address to maintain financial stability. The board has not approved the specific additional cuts, so their effects on staff and school services remain undetermined.
The evidence
At its October 28, 2026 meeting, the board approved the revised fiscal recovery and financial stability plan. Staff said the district had included $7.99 million in reductions in the adopted 2026–27 budget that were not achieved, leaving the district $7.99 million over spending as things stood; the first interim budget would be corrected to reflect the actual amount. Staff said more detailed reduction proposals would return for board consideration on November 18. The September plan’s longer-term targets were already reported separately. (Document 136870.)
