District news
Antioch adopts new multi-year budget-cut targets

What happened
The board adopted a five-year fiscal recovery plan setting reduction targets of $21.58 million in 2027-28 and another $9 million in 2028-29. The district said $6.58 million of the $18.2 million planned for 2026-27 was not achieved and is deferred; specific future cuts have not yet been selected.
Why it matters to families
The plan makes large ongoing reductions central to the district’s effort to restore fiscal stability, but the board has not yet chosen the specific future cuts. Those decisions could affect district staffing, programs, and services.
The evidence
At the September 23, 2026 meeting, the board voted to adopt the fiscal recovery and financial stability plan. The presentation set $21.58 million in 2027-28 reductions, including $6.58 million deferred from 2026-27, plus $9 million more in 2028-29; staff said specific reduction options would return for board consideration. The board also adopted a revised resolution requiring reduction or revenue-enhancement lists for 2027-28 and 2028-29 in the second-interim report. (Document 116306.)
