How is Aspermont ISD paid for?

Mostly local property tax; buys attendance credit from the state

Aspermont ISD serves about 190-215 students in Aspermont. More than half of its 2025-26 revenue came from local property taxes, with most of the rest from the state. In August 2026 the board approved buying attendance credit, an option Texas uses for districts with high property wealth that must send some local tax money to the state. The district also pays off a voter-approved bond that is renovating its gym and junior high. A seven-member elected board of trustees sets the budget and tax rate and hires the superintendent, Zach Morris.

2025-26 budget

About $4.27 million in revenue, with a planned $54,000 shortfall.

2026-27 tax rate

$1.1454 per $100: $0.6754 for operations, $0.47 for debt.

Bond work

Gym and junior high renovations, new roofs, bleachers and asbestos removal in 2025-26.

Enrollment

191 students at the start of 2026-27, down from 208.

The board's votes in these minutes were almost all unanimous, and no one spoke at the 2026 budget and tax hearing.
