What happened

On June 9, 2026 the board awarded Mathis Parker LLC $9,574,000 to build metal buildings at Billingsley School, Marbury High, Prattville High, Prattville Primary and the maintenance site. The school-campus buildings are mainly girls' athletic space to meet Title IX rules; the others add storage. In October the superintendent said the buildings should be delivered in January 2027.

Why it matters to families

This is a large construction project paid with Advancement and Technology funds, 2021 bond money and local funds. Softball teams may start their season before the new facilities are ready.

The evidence

In the June 9, 2026 meeting video the superintendent reads consent item 6: a low base bid of $4,974,000 plus two alternates of $4,600,000, for $9,574,000 in total. The October 6, 2026 video reports the slabs being poured and January delivery.
