FY2027 budget plans $115.6 million in spending as enrollment slips

What happened
The proposed FY2027 budget, presented at a September 8, 2026 hearing, plans $118.8 million in revenue and $115.6 million in spending. State aid is based on 8,457.95 students, 89.6 fewer than the year before. It includes a 2% raise for employees and higher state health-insurance costs.
Why it matters to families
Three-quarters of the general fund comes from the state, and the state pays by enrollment, so a falling student count means less money. Salaries and benefits rise about $4.1 million.
The evidence
The FY 2027 Budget Presentation lists total revenues of $118,811,168 and expenditures of $115,637,966, general fund revenue 75% state, enrollment of 8,457.95 (down 89.60), a 2% COLA, and general fund salaries and benefits rising from $76.6 million to $80.7 million.
