School overview
Blended Learning Academies Credit Recovery High School
How this Lansing-area credit-recovery charter high school is funded and run.

Who runs Blended Learning Academies?
Blended Learning Academies is a public charter (public school academy) high school for students in grades 9-12 who need to recover credits. Its main campus is at 1754 E. Clark Road in Lansing, and it also has a Livonia site. Ferris State University authorizes the charter, and the current contract runs to June 30, 2029. A volunteer Board of Directors, appointed through the university rather than elected, oversees the school. The school contracts with ITS Education Management Group, LLC, which provides the director of school services and other management. Funding is mainly Michigan's per-pupil foundation allowance ($9,608 per student in 2023-24).
Appointed board
Board members are recommended by the board and appointed by Ferris State University's Board of Trustees. There is no public election.
Authorizer oversight
Ferris's Charter Schools Office sends a field representative to meetings, issues an annual performance report and began a mid-contract review in fall 2026.
Per-student funding
In 2023-24 general fund revenue was $2.27 million, mostly state aid, for 167 students.
Small and changing enrollment
About 182 students were counted in fall 2025, 151 were enrolled in August 2026 and about 160 at the start of school.
An appointed charter board is less directly accountable to voters than an elected school board. Its minutes are posted, and the authorizer reports on it publicly.
