What Breckinridge County's current public records show

Strong full-Board, finance and policy coverage; selected school-council coverage

Current records show adopted Board actions, audited operating results, monthly finance, major construction decisions and current device and emerging-technology rules.

FY2025 General Fund spending exceeded revenue

The audit reports $27.89 million in General Fund revenue, $29.45 million in expenditures and a $1.68 million ending fund balance; net other financing reduced the fund-balance decline to $748,112.

State and local sources supplied nearly all FY2025 General Fund revenue

Of $27,889,328 in audited General Fund revenue, $18,856,201 was state funding, including $11,191,617 of SEEK; $8,978,577 was local revenue, including $5,648,586 of property tax, $1,355,607 of motor-vehicle tax and $1,216,070 of utility tax; $54,550 was federal revenue. These are General Fund figures, not all-governmental-fund totals.

FY2027 working budget projects $23.05 million in General Fund revenue

The $23.05 million is projected operating revenue excluding on-behalf payments, beginning balance and transfers; those other resources are reported separately. The budget also reports 408 FTE positions and a 3.06% General Fund contingency.

BCMS construction involves large approved bids and distinct financing records

The Board approved $53.63 million of base bids excluding masonry. Bond principal, premiums, cash reconciliations and contractor proposals have different scopes and are not combined into one invented project budget.

Auditors reported no findings

The January 22 audit gives unmodified financial and major-program opinions and lists no financial-statement or federal findings; that does not guarantee no control deficiencies existed.

Current policies distinguish possession, instructional use and teacher-directed AI use

The device policy restricts instructional-time use rather than imposing a full-day possession ban. Emerging-technology and writing policies require responsible, cited and original work rather than a blanket AI ban.

The Board archive is detailed, but school-council coverage is partial and no official recording/transcript archive was found.
