Special-education staff turnover before the school year
What happened
In July 2026 three special-education teachers and a speech-language pathologist resigned, effective July 31. In August the board hired many teachers, including several special-education teachers, for the 2026-27 school year only, and shared a diagnostician with Tensas Parish.
Why it matters to families
Students with disabilities depend on stable, trained staff. One-year-only hiring suggests the district is filling hard-to-staff jobs short term.
