What happened

On June 23, the AALRR agreement was reduced from a proposed three-year term to July 1, 2026–June 30, 2027 with a $700,000 not-to-exceed amount.

Why it matters to families

The shorter agreement creates an earlier opportunity to evaluate legal costs and alternatives.

The evidence

Trustees questioned proposed outyear hourly increases of roughly 19.4%. Other legal renewals received negotiated rate reductions, and members requested analysis of in-house counsel costs. This is an authorization ceiling, not proof that $700,000 was spent or that in-house counsel was hired.
