What happened

On September 8, 2026, the board gave final approval to a revised Student Electronic Devices policy (FGAB). At an August hearing, the high school principal said phones have been removed from the schools, except a few cases where students need them for college classes or log-in codes.

Why it matters to families

Students generally cannot use their phones during the school day. The principal said students seem more engaged in class and with each other since the change.

The evidence

August 18, 2026 hearing minutes describe phones being removed from schools and list FGAB passing first reading. September 8, 2026 minutes record the 4-0 vote approving FGAB on second and final reading. The policy text itself was not in the collected records.
