$150 million school bond passed by 21 votes

What happened
Voters approved Eagle Pass ISD's $150 million bond in the May 2, 2026 election by 21 votes (1,487 against). The district plans four replacement campuses, additions at several schools, and district-wide work on roofs, HVAC, PA systems and secure entrances. In June the board also approved refinancing about $25 million of 2016 bonds, which advisers estimated would save about $1.8 million.
Why it matters to families
The bond adds a debt-service tax. The district estimated the increase at $188 a year on a $250,000 home. Homeowners 65 and older are exempt from the increase.
