Board restates public comment rules for the new school year

Day-to-day

What happened

On Aug. 19, 2026 the board chair explained the public-comment rules after the board revised Policy 2350 (meeting rules, with changes about public participation). Speakers state their name, address and residency; the period is limited to 30 minutes; each speaker gets 3 minutes; and personnel, student, legal and bargaining matters are not discussed in public comment.

Why it matters to families

These rules decide how parents and residents can speak to the board. A parent with a concern about a teacher or a student must take it to the school or superintendent instead.

The evidence

The Aug. 19 recording includes the chair reading the rules. Policy 2350 was introduced July 16 and adopted Aug. 5 with revisions on public participation.
