District news

Students in grades 6 to 12 must wear ID lanyards starting Oct. 5

Day-to-day

What happened

The superintendent said student IDs on a lanyard will be required in all secondary schools starting Oct. 5, 2026. He said the schools have an open campus and it can be hard to tell who belongs, especially at dismissal when visiting athletes come in. A letter to families was promised.

Why it matters to families

This changes the daily routine for middle and high school students and families, and it is part of the district's safety push.

The evidence

In the Sept. 16 recording the superintendent announced the rule and the Oct. 5 start date and gave the safety reasons.
