Board adopts new policy on security cameras on school property

Day-to-day

What happened

On Sept. 16, 2026 the board adopted a new policy, 8210.1, on the use of surveillance cameras on school property, after a first reading on Aug. 19. Staff described it as setting guidelines for how the district uses cameras. The policy text was not among the collected documents.

Why it matters to families

Cameras affect student and visitor privacy and school safety. Families may want to read the policy to see where cameras are used and how video is kept.

The evidence

In the Sept. 16 recording the board voted to approve Policy 8210.1 (the recording shows a 7-0 count). The Aug. 19 recording calls it a new policy that establishes guidelines for camera use.
