District news
Enrollment keeps falling: 176 seniors graduated, about 105 kindergartners came in

What happened
District staff said enrollment has fallen for several years. They expect about 2,125 students counted for 2026-27, down from 2,186 a year earlier and 2,307 in October 2024. The biggest gap is at the ends: 176 seniors graduated while about 105 kindergartners started.
Why it matters to families
State money follows students, so fewer students means less money. Staff estimated about $250,000 less for the education fund, and families in a search survey named declining enrollment as the district's top challenge.
The evidence
In the September 14, 2026 budget hearing recording, staff say "We are estimating our ADM to be approximately 2,125 for the 2627 school year" and "graduated 176 seniors are bringing in 105ish kindergarters". The August 24 work session gave the prior count as 2,186.
