East Troy Community School District
Funding structure, how it compares to peers, and where major projects stand.

How is East Troy governed and funded?
An elected school board governs the district. The district relies on Wisconsin state aid and local property taxes. The September budget publication projects $24,469,458.71 of General Fund uses and a $1,517,192.93 fund-balance draw.
Operating referendum
The district’s annual packet says the spring 2026 operating referendum failed. It describes planned reductions and use of one-time fund balance to address the current budget gap.
Staffing plan
The budget publication lists 19.37 FTE of discontinued staffing items and separately lists 1.45 new special-education paraprofessional FTE. These are budgeted positions, not a count of people laid off.
Preliminary levy
At the September 21 annual meeting electors approved an $18,369,178 preliminary levy, 10–1. A later certified levy was not independently verified.
Budgeted uses differ from actual spending. The publication’s all-fund figure includes capital-project expenditures and must not be confused with the General Fund; actual per-pupil spending and any individual tax bill are unverified.
