What happened

Auditors reviewing 2024-25 told the board that bank accounts were not reconciled on time, spending ran over budget, and nearly $50,000 in credit card purchases had no receipts. Several of these problems were also found the year before. The general fund ended the year with $389,486, only $148,179 of it unassigned.

Why it matters to families

Repeat audit findings and a very small fund balance leave the district little room to handle surprises without cuts. Staff later said they were down to about four possible repeat findings for the next audit, due Nov. 16, 2026.

The evidence

In the June 9, 2026 recording the auditor lists the findings (about 59-73 minutes in), including about $4.1 million the local account owed the state account and roughly $314,000 overcharged to child nutrition, and gives the fund balance figures (about 84-86 minutes in). The source is the official meeting recording; its auto-captions can garble numbers, so check the recording.
