Superintendent resigns; principal Scott Shakespeare promoted to lead the district
What happened
Superintendent Jonathan Firme resigned, effective August 19, 2026. On August 26 the board made District Principal Scott Shakespeare interim superintendent at a salary of $87,789.69 and voted 5-0 to fill the job from inside the district instead of running a search.
Why it matters to families
The superintendent runs the whole district day to day. Firme's contract had just been renewed in April, so this was a sudden change. The September 8 agenda set up Shakespeare's permanent appointment with pay of up to $94,812.86.
