District news

Phones banned at school all day

Day-to-day

What happened

The 2026-27 student handbook and code of conduct, approved on July 20, 2026, bar students from using phones, tablets and smartwatches on school property during the school day. Devices must be stored the way the district directs.

Why it matters to families

Students cannot use phones at any point in the school day, and breaking the rule leads to discipline. Exceptions cover IEPs, 504 plans and safety needs.

The evidence

The handbook section 'Use of Personal Communications Devices' cites state law and policy FNCE(LOCAL). The code of conduct lists the storage rule and allowed exceptions, and the July 20 minutes record both approvals.
