District news
School budget spends $366,000 more than it takes in
What happened
On August 24, 2026, the board adopted a 2026-27 budget of $3,431,037 against expected revenue of $3,064,877, a gap of $366,160. It also set the tax rate at $0.7954 per $100, down slightly from the $0.8022 voters approved in 2025.
Why it matters to families
Spending more than it brings in means the district draws on savings. Its last audit showed about $3.59 million in reserves at August 2025, so a gap this size would use roughly a tenth of them in one year.
The evidence
The posted adopted budget lists each spending area and the $366,160 difference. The tax rate resolution and the August 24 minutes record the votes, and the 2024-25 audit gives the reserve figure.
