2026-27 budget: $221.6 million, with $8 million drawn from savings

Financial

What happened

The board approved the 2026-27 budget on June 4, 2026: $221.6 million across all funds, with $159.9 million in the General Fund. The General Fund will use $7.98 million of its beginning fund balance, and about $49.3 million goes to charter schools.

Why it matters to families

Fewer students means less state money. The district expects 334 fewer funded students (11,705), and about 72 percent of its students are considered at risk, which brings extra state funding.

The evidence

The proposed budget (Apr 30) and its appropriation resolution state the totals and say they were approved June 4, 2026. The June 4 recording shows the vote on the budget resolutions.
