District news
Math plan would replace Farragut Middle School enrichment with accelerated courses

What happened
The district’s math plan would end sixth- and seventh-grade enrichment offerings at Farragut Middle School and add accelerated Math 6 and Math 7 courses. Placement criteria for the new courses were still being developed in the March presentation.
Why it matters to families
This would change how middle-school students access advanced math instruction, while the criteria determining who enters the accelerated courses had not yet been settled in the presentation.
The evidence
The March 17, 2026 mathematics presentation lists elimination of sixth- and seventh-grade enrichment at Farragut Middle School and addition of accelerated Math 6 and Math 7. It also says placement criteria for accelerated Grade 7 and, in a subsequent year, Grade 6 were still to be developed. The presentation describes the plan; it does not establish a formal board adoption. (Document 134578)
