What happened

The Department announced a $156 million K–5 school planned for 750 students in Hoʻopili. A ceremonial groundbreaking took place October 14, while the project remained out to bid.

Why it matters to families

The school would add capacity in a growing community. Construction is targeted for March 2027 through August 2029, with opening in 2029–30; those dates depend on procurement and construction progress.

The evidence

The October 14 Department release identifies the cost, capacity and bidding status. The permanent school name and contract award were not established. The capital plan groups this school with other capacity projects and does not give its individual funding split.
