What happened

The Board approved Idaho’s K–12 Generative Artificial Intelligence in Education Framework. It says AI should support learning and educator effectiveness, not replace teachers; use should be human-centered, age-appropriate and responsible, with student privacy safeguards and AI-literacy support for students, educators and families.

Why it matters to families

The framework gives districts, schools and charters statewide guidance as they develop AI policies and classroom practices. It calls for student-data safeguards and says AI should support, not replace, human teaching and student learning. The document is guidance, distinct from the separate proposed standards rulemaking.

The evidence

The PPGA Tab 5 Framework describes human-centered, age-appropriate use, teacher primacy, student-data protections and AI literacy/family support. The official August 12–13 Board minutes separately record approval of the Framework as submitted.
